BMX 20 inch 1500W rear hub motor kit

Q: I will be purchasing the your BMX 1500W rear hub motor kit. Before I go ahead could you please help with the following information.

1. What is the expected delivery time to the UK with the current covid 19 pandemic in the UK in terms courier entry to the UK?

2. What amp battery would I require?

3. Would my Saracen amplitude (steel frame) need re-enforcing to handle the power? ……In your opinion as I understand this is a difficult question to answer.

A: 1. about 10 days now. (It’s faster than last month)
2. 40amp or 50amp battery
3. if install hub motor on frame very strong, very well..No looseness — No problem (We will make wheel works in the line. Shake is less than 0.5mm from left & right.. shake is less than 1mm from up to down)

Q: Okay well my best option is to purchase a customized battery from you, as you best know the requirements for the kit you sold me…..

1. For clarity the following battery is the product I need to order? –
52V 12ah lithium battery –
Item ID #LBB521B
£335.75?
& You will customize as per your knowledge of my requirements?

1b. This battery is designed to attach to the Bottle holder screws I believe? As it’s being attached to the Top Bar of the BMX (under the riders knees) laying from back to front of bike,  A BMX does not have these bottle holder screws.

Do you sell a bracket that I can use to attach the battery without using Bottle holder screws?

Or know if possible to add those type of screws to the frame of my BMX?

2. Also my precious kit purchase added around £150 for important fees…..
Will this battery have added import fees? —as not added until final till checkout on site.

3. Do you sell a Torque arm that is compatible with my BMX hub because I want to further secure the wheel hub to the frame?

4. Could you offer my any additional discount? on battery and (Torque arm + battery bracket if you can supply) as offering repeat business associated with Hub purchase.

Thank you for excellent customer service I will be sure to leave an amazing Review on your website.

20 inch 48v 52v front hub motor diy bike conversion kits question

Q: Hello! I have been viewing your various 20″ 48v/52v front hub motor diy bike conversion kits and I have a couple of questions.

1) Is there a way to install a disc brake rotor somehow next to the hub motor and still function properly? If so, can you tell me maximum rotor size allowed for these kits?

2) What type of battery would you recommend for a 48v/52v front hub motor kit like this?

Thank you very much for your time and assistance regarding this matter.

A: 1.) Can install a disk on this 20 inch 1000w or 1500w front hub motor… but the front dropout should be 105mm or 110mm..
Standard front dropout is about 100mm..

So if the dropout can’t be larger, can’t use disk on front motor.

2.) We recommend 52v 20ah lithium battery.
https://www.leafbike.com/products/lithium-battery/52v-20ah-1500w-electric-bike-battery-triangle-battery-1225.html

Q: Thank you very much for your quick response. Do you know what the maximum disc brake rotor size I would be allowed to install next to motor? Thank you again.

A: We installed max 160mm

Below picture.
The dia. of two holes for disk is 44m…
If your 180mm 203mm,  aslo 44mm… You can install 180mm, 203mm disk

Q:
I forgot to ask you one last thing before making a final decision on a front hub motor kit. I know you said you are not able to ship the recommended 52v 20ah battery to Japan, but can you recommend a charger to go with this type of battery? Thank you again for all of your help and assistance.

I just noticed the charger that comes with the 52v 20ah li battery, so I can look for battery/charger here in Japan. But, do you have in stock just the frame bag for holding this type of battery?

20 inch beach snow fat kit with 1500w bike motor modified

Q: I am looking for a beach snow fat kit for my bike, do you have e bike kit for 20×4.0 inch?
1500w with 69 kmh?

A: Yes. We can make.
Please click below site.
https://www.leafbike.com/products/beach-snow-fat-bike-kit/20-inch-electric-hub-motor-wheel/

@48v about 57kmh no load speed..  if work at @52v battery, a little fast..
Also, we can make the fastest winding rotor for this 1500w.. if @48v about 75kmh no load speed..

Q: Can I ask how much rpm, N.m?
and with 95 kg load the speed?  48 or 52 v

A: if full charged 52v battery, 95kg on flat road can reach about 50kmh

Q: 50kmh 52v with bike motor modified?

A: it’s default bike motor, not that fastest..

Q: I need faster and i want to know the faster goes…. Important for me.. Now I have 750w with 52v go to 48kmh. I need more speed.

A: 75kmh

Q: With load? 60kmh? Just last question… What torque have modified motor?
Now i have 48v battery then i upgrade 52v

A: 48v battery,ride on the flat road,still can reach about 75kmh
We made a sample, not test it on machine, very fast, very dangerous

Q: I don’t want to go at 75kmh but if i want to escape from dangerous situations i can! Please can you tell me the torque of bike motor? If a have problem with Uphill roads? If a lose more power or not..

A: all of our 48v 1000w,1500w are easy to uphill.. more than 30Nm

Q: I need your kit, 1500w bike motor modified.
Kit for 20×4” inch can i choose to use 48 or 52 v
It’s important for me to have the modified bike motor motor, i need to have 55-60 kmh with load.

16 inch 24V 250W front hub motor – electric bike kit

Q: I have an old 16 inch bike that I would like to add electric assist on the front wheel (The rear has a complex hub/cassette that I don’t want to mess with). The hub specs seem like they would work with this kind of bike but I have some questions. Will the added weight of a front hub motor put strain on the headset? Will the hub work with the compact v-brakes that came with the bike or will I need to upgrade? Will it work with my 60 psi tires? Would I be able to power my hub dynamo lights with the battery? I am not looking for anything powerful–just something to help me up hills.
Note the attached picture is before I upgraded to long swept back handlebars which should give me enough room for any controllers and throttles.

A: This 16 inch hub motor kit 24v 250w front is fit for the spacing of 100mm fork.
* if possible, just measure the spacing of your fork, check if 100mm? -If 100mm, no any problem. Fit for your bike, also fit for your V brake, also your fork support this motor.
This bike motor is not heavy. Works with your fork. This 16 inch rim is fit for 16 x 1.5″ or 16 x 1.75 or 16 x 1.95″ tire.
But we recommend 36v 250w or 48v 250w or 48v 500w (24v 250w is not strong)

Q:  I am just researching right now. If 250W is too weak, will the next wattage size help me up the hill? Would you recommend high or low pressure tires (I prefer low pressure)? Does the price include the battery?

A: 48V 250W or 48V 500W is okay.
If strongest, 48v 1500w low speed motor.
Not include battery.

Q: Would the 36v 250w bike motor be strong enough to boost me up hills and what battery pack would work with it? Can motor batteries be tapped to power lights originally powered from a hub dynamo?

A: 36v 250w bike motor is stronger than 24v 250w
But still no good for up hills, just work for flat road.
Also, 48v 250w bike motor is just better to work for flat road, not good for up hill.
If up hill, should 16 inch 48V 1000W, 1500W bike motor.

Q: I would still be peddling the bike with motor assist rather than relying on the motor alone. I currently don’t want too powerful a motor as my current rim brakes may not be strong enough. Also this would be the first time I rode any kind of electrified bike so I need an “entry level” set up.
One other thing, how well does the motor hold up against heat, cold and getting wet as in encountering the occasional puddle? It can get really hot, cold and wet where I live.

26 inch 2000W HUB SNOW BIKE KIT – FOR 190MM DROPOUT

Q: Could you tell me the spec of the most powerful hub motor you sell in the 26 inch fat bike kit that will fit a 190mm rear dropout please?
I am looking to buy the hub motor pre-laced in a rim, can you also advise on what battery to go with it.

A: 190mm dropout..
We can make 26 inch 48V 1000w or 26 inch 48V 1500w hub motor
We recommend 48v or 52v 20ah battery.

Q: Thanks for the reply. Can you quote me for a 1500w direct drive hub wound for torque on a 26″ 80mm rim with cassette and place for rim brake with 190mm dropout please?
Here is the bike I want to install it on

A:We have 26 inch 80mm rim
but don’t have cassette version shaft for 190mm hub motor.
ONLY shaft for freewheel sprocket.

Q:Freewheel will be fine. How much to order please?

A:Click below site.  Check out… check out..
choose your country, will get shipping cost & total price.
Leave message: 190mm 26 inch 80mm

Q:One more question do you have different windings available? Bike will be climbing lots of hills.

A:Yes, we have different windings available..
Just tell us max speed, we can make windings as your max speed.
We can make fastest: 22 x 3T just for e-motorcycle
Also, can make 16 x 4T – fast
13 x 5T
11 x 6T – popular
9 x 7T
8 x 8T – stronger and not too slow
7 x 9T
6 x 11T — slow
5 x 13T
4 x 16T

Q:Which winding works well for long hill climbing without overheating?

A: 11 x 6T is not too slow,also strong.
Don’t worry motor overheating.
ONLY make sure controller is not overheating.. motor will not overheating..
** Don’t pack controller inside bag.Had better to hold it on the frame directly. It’s easy to cool controller in Summer.
** There pairs of heavy yellow, blue, green phase wires must connected well. Had better to use electrical tape winding.

Q: I saw you have a 2000w hub motor model fat bike wheel how fast will that go?
I think that may be my last question
Sorry also does hub motor have a temp sensor or can you add one please?
Hi saw this new model and had questions:
https://www.leafbike.com/products/beach-snow-fat-bike-kit/26-inch-60v-2000w-rear-hub-motor-beach-snow-fat-tire-bike-conversion-kit-1231.html

Your 26 inch 2000w snow bike kits says it can come in 190mm rear dropout, is that correct?

How many amps is the controller?

Can you supply as a thumb throttle instead of twist throttle?

Does motor come mounted inside the wheel?

What windings can you offer on this 2000w version?

Motor question

Q: This rpm are at which voltage? 36v or 48v?
A:48v 1500w

Q: Another question. What is the axle nut size? M14 or m12? Or you can customize?
Can you laze this hub motor to a wheel 20 inch rim ? How much would that extra cost?
Thanks again for your help.

A:M14 (flat is 10mm) fit for all kinds of standard bike.
Yes, can laze it on 20 inch.   No extra cost.
Just order Item: LBM20481500RN
And leave message: speed, cassette version

Q:What sort of connector it has? I assume the hub motor comes already with one cable, can you provide with a second one?

A:The connectors as pictures.
Also will come with spare connectors for controller side.
When you order, just leave message: one cable

Q: But it is soldered to the hub motor that long cable?

A:No long cable.. can come with a spare cable..

Because cable factory supply about 1m lenght per cable.

Q:Can you confirm me please,

18 inch 48V 52V 1000W rear hub motor – electric bike kit

I’m interested in your 18 inch hub motor electric bike conversion kit I was curious is this a right hand drive or left hand drive ? Does this come with a sprocket, and if so how
Many teeth does it have ? Is this strictly pedal assist or will the motor engage while pedals are at a stand still?
Do you have a 1000watt hub motor for the drum brake wheel?
Do you make 16inch electric front wheels for surrey bikes ?  The axles seems slightly different then your standard bicycle front wheel
Do you have a diagram as to how the drum brake connects to the wheel ?
I see that’s a separate drum break to purchase. How does the 1000watt wheel attach the drum break? Is there a mounting system on the wheel ?
The actual drum break 1000watt wheel comes with everything needed correct ?
I would rather purchase from you if possible since our communication has been the best. Can you work with me on the price of the wheel ?
Are the drum break to the wheel universal?  May I ask why the drum brake isn’t included with the wheel?
What is the return policy in case I have issues with it fitting my bike or performing ?
I am now in the process of ordering the electric wheel kit for our surrey bike. Before ordering I was curious do you have the updated lcd screen for this model ?
It would be the same wheel, the rear 18inch wheel conversion with drum break.
Is there any documents showing the way the lcd screens look? Is one better then the other ?
I can choose a colored lcd screen for the controller as well correct?
Before I make a purchase I was going to ask do you offer a thumb driven accelerator switch instead of the throttle handle like a dirt bike.
Can you send me a picture of what it looks like please.
I was asking if I could see a picture of the thumb throttle as well
One more question about your thumb throttle. Do you have a thumb throttle that does not have the handle attached ? I’m trying to secure the thumb throttle to a sealed bar so I need it to open and latch over the bar to secure it instead of slipping over the end of a bar like a bike handle grip. If this makes sense?
Sounds good. If I were to want this one how would I express in my order I would
Prefer this thumb throttle ?

Question on wiring- 1500w rear hub motor kit

I have installed my hub motor kit on my bike and think IT IS GREAT!!!!
I have a question about a wire from the “cruise control-regenerative brake” controller on the handle bar.
The connection to the control unit had 4 wires one of which……the blue wire…was cut.
I assumed that it needed to be fixed the two blue wires together.
I bought two hub motor kits and we have just finished installing the kit on my friends bike and this blue wire is also not connected…..so I am wondering if it is supposed to be disconnected……should I solder this blue wire of cut the blue wire on my bike …..
Again….I think your hub motor kits are great! I have referred my friends to your site and I hope you receive some orders from them.

How to use three button switch?
1.We cut off that blue or yellow wire. It’s for reverse/backward.This function is very dangerous for e-bike. If for e-tricycle,hope this reverse function, just re-connect this yellow wire.
(We cut off yellow wire.. so no reverse/backwards function for e-bike. If install motor on tricycle, also need this reverse function, please re-connect this yellow wire. Reverse works)

This yellow or black button be left / middle, motor works forward. Be right side, motor works backwards / reverse… (Cut off blue wire,No reverse function)

How to set max speed?
If you feel motor is too fast, please set it to be low speed.
* Press “sw/middle button” from LCD more than 2 seconds, then LCD will display.
* Press “up & down button” together more than 2 seconds until 72 is flashing ( 72 is kmh, if you hope works 20mph / 32kmh, press “down” to be 32)
* Press “sw/middle” button one time to save, then 20 is flashing.. (20 is wheel size. Don’t set)
* Press “sw/middle” button one time to save, then kmh or mph is flashing..
* Press “sw/middle” button one time to save, then press “sw/middle” button more than 2 seconds until be back.

Turn throttle, motor will work max speed as your setting.

—————
There is a “ 5 or 4 or 3 or 2 or 1 or 0” on the Left side of LCD.
* Be “0” – throttle & pedal assist NOT work.
* Be “1” – throttle works (If install pedal assist, pedal about 3 circles, then can drive motor to work)
* Be “2” – throttle works (If install pedal assist, pedal about 2.5 circles, then can drive motor to work)
* Be “3” – throttle works (If install pedal assist, pedal about 2 circles, then can drive motor to work)
* Be “4” – throttle works (If install pedal assist, pedal about 1.5 circles, then can drive motor to work)
* Be “5” – throttle works (If install pedal assist, pedal about 1 circles, then can drive motor to work)

If NOT install that pedal assist,ONLY use throttle to drive motor. But Should be 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5.(Be 0,turn off throttle)

——————————–
How to use three button switch?
1.We cut off that yellow wire. It’s for reverse/backward.This function is very dangerous for e-bike. If for e-tricycle,hope this reverse function, just re-connect this yellow wire.

Re-press this green button one time or press brake lever or turn throttle to max, motor will stop

3.Red button be up,regen on. Be down, regen off. This regen is not strong.Only while braking with a little regen.

1.Be careful:
Heavy Red Wire from controller should be connected to → Red Wire + (48V or 52V battery positive)
Heavy Black Wire should be connected to → Black wire – (48V or 52V battery negative)

Power on battery. Press “sw” middle button more than 2 seconds until LCD be ON. Turn throttle, motor will work.
If Not work,please check below:

2. if no “-O-“, still not work, please check three pair of heavy phase yellow, blue, green wires if connected well.

replace hall sensor for 750w hub motor

The hall sensor is a transducer that varies its output voltage in response to a magnetic field. Hall sensors are used for proximity switching, positioning, speed detection, and current sensing applications. Three phase bike motor has three hall sensors inside that are used for electric bike widely.

36V 250W brushless geared motor is popular in Europe, but in North America, people like 36V 750W hub motor more. More and more people order and enjoy these two types of DC hub motors that are called classic electric bike motors. Now they have received by most of customers because of good quality.

But when ride this hub motor bike and climb hill for a long time. Sometimes over current or over head will break motor controller’s MOSFET or hall sensor.

Hall sensor is broken. The hub motor can’t work. Unless your controller can drive sensor-less motor. Buy a new motor, cost more.

Replace hall sensor, cost less. Below we first instruct one type of 750w electric bike motor .

If hall sensor is broken, power on battery, you will find battery gauge works, horn works, lights work, everything is good, except when you turn your throttle, the hub motor wheel can’t run.

Step 1:
Retest this hub motor and make sure it does be broken. Do you have voltmeter?
Still connect all wires and power on.

First measure 6-pin hall sensor plug, the voltage as below:
1.The voltage of red and black is about 4.5V;
2.The voltage of yellow and black is about 4.5V or 0V;(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 0V-4.5V)
3.The voltage of green and black is about 4.5V or 0V;(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 0V-4.5V)
4.The voltage of blue and black is about 0V or 4.5(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 4.5V-0V)
If you can get above data it’s no problem with bike conversion kit system. If the voltage of Item 2 (yellow and black wires)can’t change from 0V-4.5V,Please replace this hall has a yellow wire connect.

You should prepare some tools and material:
1.Hexagon wrench (Necessary)
2.Hammer (Necessary)
3.Screwdriver
4.electric iron
5.A-B glue
6.insulated paper, insulated wire
7.scissors
8.New hall sensor

Step 2:
Take off nuts and gasket on axis and use hexagon wrench to loose 16 screws.

Step 3:
Make the electric bike motor stand and cable is bent inside. Left hand hold the hub motor and use hammer to knock the axis.

Step 4:
After some knock, the cover will take off hub.

Step 5:
Use the same way to knock the other axis, the other cover will also take off hub.

Step 6:
When both side covers are off hub, next we should take out the rotor-winding. Make the axis stands on the ground, both hands press hub motor, the rotor-winding will out of hub.

Step 7:
There are three hall sensor in three grooves around the rotor.
Use scissors to remove insulated wire and insulated paper. You will find 9-pin(three hall sensor)connect to PCB on rotor-winding. Each hall has three pin: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:signal
For example:
Hall A: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Yellow wire
Hall B: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Blue wire
Hall C: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Green wire

Step 8:
Just now had known yellow wire hall sensor was broken. Please use electric iron to remove Hall A and use A-B glue to fix new hall sensor. Use insulated paper, insulated wire to fix PCB. Then re-build this hub motor.

Step 9:
Test as step 1.If can get the data from each hall sensor. Congratulate.

Power on battery, the hub motor wheel works.

Look for an Electric motorcycle motor kit

I just bought a gas moped (49cc) and plan to convert it to electric with your electric motorcycle kit. It looks like I’ll need at least 1500W rear hub motor, although I’m willing to go higher if needed (2000W?). Someone on a forum indicated that you do custom windings and I should reach out to you, but I’m not an engineer and can only describe how I’ll use the moped – I can’t offer what specs are best, or if this is within what you can offer.

I would prefer a solid wheel (no spokes) but on your site those only go to 1000W?

The original moped rear wheel is 17″ with a M62 3-17 tire. I haven’t removed the tire to get the exact fork distance, but I think it is around 175mm

I don’t need a high top speed, 20 mph maximum and mostly I will be in the 0-10 mph range. However, it will be constantly going up and down hills, including several hundred feet of about 15 degree incline. So, I need good low-speed torque.

I weigh about 200 lbs, and the moped (and the tools I’ll be carrying) adds another 100-150 lbs.

This will never be used on public roadways, only on my farm. I live in the USA.

I haven’t started looking at controllers or batteries yet.  My first step is to identify the best hub motor option, then I can worry about the rest.

I’d prefer a 17 inch casted electric motorcycle hub motor if I can get one with enough power / torque at low speed.
