Get Rid of Dependency With An Electric bike

With the environmental impact of the recent Gulf Coast oil disaster still largely unknown, it is becoming abundantly clear that we need to greatly cut down our dependence on gas. One way to do this is to spend ,1000 to buy a brand new electric bike. What if you don’t have that kind of money to spend? If you choose the best payday loan lender like, be assured that there are many benefits you are likely to acquire. But it is advisable to think carefully before you decide to apply for your loan. This is because after you have applied for this type of a loan, you need to plan on how to repay it. That is why it is essential to ensure that you plan carefully and know some of the basic ideas to consider. The following therefore are some of the benefits of payday loans.Visit our website at for more details.

With a little help and a small investment, you can do this yourself. Converting your own bike from gas to electric is not all that difficult to do. I know someone with a 1995 Toyota Corolla that converted his bike at a cost of five hundred dollars. That’s a fraction of what a new bike costs today.

The easiest way to do this is to turn it into a family project. A few simple steps is all it takes:

1. You will need a detailed plan on how to convert your bike into an electric bike. It can be a gas or diesel vehicle.

2. A garage that you can use as your work space, meanwhile you can put your car in a carport.

3. Simple every day tools including wrenches, drills, pliers and screw drivers.

Next, you will need a large brushless motor (9 inches or larger) and batteries. Keep in mind that DC motors can be used but they are more costly to obtain and harder to install. Therefore, I recommend you stay with a brushless motor and keep it simple.

You can, buy all the parts brand new or you can use the sources of free brushless motors and free industrial batteries listed in our plans. The parts are going to be your biggest cost of the project.

Sourcing the parts from a salvage yard is an inexpensive way to get your parts. Since a brushless motor will likely last longer than you will own your bike, using salvaged motors is prudent. Your bike will likely rust out from under you before the motor gives up.

After sourcing your brushless motor and batteries, you have to take out the gasoline engine from your bike. You will want to rent a hoist or find a mechanic to help you lift the heavy engine out of the bike.

Finally, leaving the clutch and flywheel assembly intact and detaching the rest will complete the removal job. This will leave you the room you will need for the batteries and brushless motor mounting.

It is very important that you use a standard transmission vehicle for the conversion because automatic transmissions won’t work. However, you will not have to shift gears once the conversion is completed. You will drive the electric bike just like you would an automatic transmission bike. Just put it in gear and go. When you stop, the engine stops too. The engine doesn’t idle or require clutching like a gasoline engine.

The acceleration takes a little getting used to as there won’t be a vehicle in town that will beat you when taking off from a stop light. You’re not driving a golf bike.

Building your own electric bike will be very rewarding. Especially, when you no longer have to spend time and money pumping gas to fill up your tank. Your electric bike will be able to go at least 50 mph and travel up to 100 miles on a single charge. How exciting!

The price for gas is going to continue to rise as we continue to deplete its resources. Now is the best time to start your own bike conversion project.

Working Principle of brushless dc motor

A, Brushless motor works through the the alternating electromotive force of armature coil,by the commutator with brushes for the role, so that leads from the brush end into the DC when the force of the principle. EMF direction is determined by the right-hand (magnetic induction line to the palm of the hand, thumb pointing to the direction of conductor movement, the other four fingers pointing is the direction of the electromotive force induced in the conductor.) Instant shown in Figure 1.1, the conductor ab, cd induction force direction by a and b point to point by d c. A positive polarity when the brush, brush B was negative.

Figure 1.1 brushless motor theory model

When the coil is rotated counterclockwise 180 °, then the conductor cd in the N pole, the conductor ab in the S pole, the force of the conductor are changed direction, respectively.

Figure 1.2 brushless dc motor theory model

Seen from the figure, and the brush contact with the conductor A is always located at the N pole, the same, and brush contact with the conductor B is always lower in the S pole. Therefore, A is always positive polarity brush, brush B always negative, so the brush end can lead to changes in the direction of change but the size of the pulsating force. If the increase in the number of coils on the armature, and in accordance with certain rules to connect them together, can reduce the level of pulsating, direct current electromotive force can be obtained. This is the brushless motor works.

Second, the working principle of DC motor force of the conductor with the left hand rule to determine direction. This form of electromagnetic force acting on the armature a moment, this moment is called the rotating motor, electromagnetic torque, the torque direction is counterclockwise in an attempt to make the armature move counterclockwise. If the electromagnetic torque to overcome the torque on the armature resistance (eg resistance caused by the friction torque, and other load torque), the armature will be able to counter-clockwise spin.

Figure 1.3 DC motor theory model

When the armature turn 180 °, the conductor under the cd to N pole, S pole to the next conductor ab, due to the current direction of the DC power supplies unchanged, still flows from the brush A, the conductor cd, ab, the B from the brush out. At this time the direction of conductor cd into force from right to left, conductor ab direction from left to right by force, the electromagnetic torque is still counter-clockwise direction.

Figure 1.4 DC motor theory model

Therefore, the armature upon rotation, the commutator with the brush commutation of the current role of DC current alternately flows from the conductor ab and cd, so long as the coil in the N pole side, the one by the electric current direction is always A brush into the direction and under the S pole, always out in the direction B from the brush. This ensures that each side in the very next coil current is always in one direction, the direction to form a constant torque, the motor can be continuously rotated. This is the DC motor works.

How to disconnect the bldc hub motor for electric bike?

Spring come, nice days to ride e-bikes.But when you take out of your old e-bike from warehouse and are going to ride it.Suddenly you would find there is strange noise from hub motor .
These days the electric bike motor are brushless gearless and used for electric bike widely. It was made of rotor-winding,magnet,hub,covers,axis,bearings…
If this bike motor has strange noise, generally it’s from rotor-winding rub magnet or the bearing is broken. It’s easy to solve it.The important is to disconnect this electric hub motor.
You should prepare some tools:
1.Hexagon wrench (Necessary)
2.Hammer (Necessary)
3.Screwdriver

Disconnect hub motor Step 1:
Take off nuts and gasket on axis and use hexagon wrench to loose 16 screws.

Step 2:
Make the hub motor stand and cable is bent inside.Left hand hold the hub motor and use hammer to knock the axis.

Step 3:
After some knock, the cover will take off hub.

Step 4:
Use the same way to knock the other axis, the other cover will also take off hub.

Step 5:
When both side covers are off hub, next we should take out the rotor-winding.Make the axis stands on the ground, both hands press hub motor, the rotor-winding will out of hub.

Step 6:
Check magnet around inside hub,if there is some metallic impurities stick on magnet. Please remove it.If no,but found some friction trace on magnet. Please check around the rotor-winding and remove some glue around the steel. If not, please check the bearing inside the cover.Use a little finger hold inside the bearing, use the other hand to turn cover, faster, better. If you hear some noise. Please replace bearings.

By now,you have solved problem.

BLDC motor benefits in simple terms

BLDC motor (DC Motor) benefits in the speed control is relatively simple terms, the size of the control voltage only has control of speed, but the motor should not be in such high temperature, flammable and other operating environments, and because of the need to brush motor As a current converter (Commutator) components (brush motor), so they need regular cleaning of the friction generated by carbon brushes dirt. The brushless motor as compared to a brush, brushless motor because less carbon brush and shaft friction so more energy is relatively quiet. Made more difficult, the price is higher. bldc motor controller (AC Motor) can at high temperature, flammable and other operating environments, and do not regularly clean up the brush of the dirt, but in the more difficult to control speed, because speed control bldc motor controller must control the frequency of alternating current (or use of induction motors, with the increase in internal resistance in a manner that the same lower frequency AC motor speed), control the voltage will only affect the motor torque. General civil motor voltage 110V and 220V and other two, in industrial applications as well such as 380V or 440V type.

Buy an electric hub motor kit

I’m very interested in buying an electric bike kit as soon as possible for my bicycle (26 inch rim )and I found your page but I would like to know about all the models you’ve got from the smallest to the biggest and strongest ;and THE PRICES of these and all the specifications:

26 inch electric hub motor kit for the dropout 160mm fork

Q: Are you able to supply a rear hub motor kit wheel (36v @ 500W – 750w) for a rear dropout of 160mm?
I have an existing e-bike that uses a 250w geared rear hub drive on a 26 x 1.95 wheel.
It has a 7 speed gear, standard 160mm disk brake and a bike mount (frame) width of 160mm.
I would be happy to go from a geared (small hub) to the larger electric bike motor kit type.
The existing bike frame is steel (not carbon or an alloy) so I may be able to ‘bend’ the rear forks… (fit).
I have included a PDF diagram (attached) to show the existing rear hub motor fitting size.

A: Yes, we have dropout of 160mm 36V 750W electric bike motor.

Q: With the new Leaf controller and LCD, I know I can limit the maximum output speed of the 750w Direct Drive hub motor to a set (safe) maximum speed for each PAS mode 1 – 5.
With our Australian laws, I want to honor speed and safety – yet have a safe speed and torque (reserved) for hills.
I respect that you have kindly supplied my order with a 320RPM hub motor ( a good choice).
My question is: “Does the max speed by set by LCD / Controller economically limit the maximum current sent to the hub motor”?
I am talking here about battery life with a low speed LCD / Controller setting ‘modulating’ the full power sent to the hub motor.
So if I program the setting to say 25Km/h, then is the torque output effected at speeds less than the given 25Km/h?

A: Yes, if you set max 25kmh by LCD, motor will work less than 25kmh.(You can set max 10kmh,11kmh,12kmh….48kmh,49kmh,50kmh)

1.Press “SW” from LCD. Turn on LCD
2.Press “up” &”down” together for more than 2 seconds in 3 seconds after LCD display – Then “72” will flash.
3.Press “down” or “up” to set any max speed. Press “SW” one time to save. Then “26” will flash. It’s tire size. Don’t set. Still press “SW” one time to save. Then “kmh / mph” will flash. Don’t set. Press “SW” one time to save.
4.At last, press “SW” more than 2 seconds, then will be back.

There is a Three button switch inside parcel.

** Black switch (be Left side / Middle – motor works forward. Be right side, motor works backward/reverse)
** Red switch (Be left side / regen off. Be right side / regen on)
** Green switch ( When motor is working, press this green switch one time. LCD is display C, motor will work as the same speed) – Re-press this green switch one time, or press brake lever, turn throttle to max, motor will stop.

measure electric bike hub motor hall sensors

Bike motor controller is fine, they all got 4.9~5.0 from meter reading. We will open and check the hub motor after work. We are more worried about if the electric bike motor itself is damaged.

Could you get the below data:
1. Remove this white biggest plug, power on and measure volt of white biggest from brushless motor controller.
Red, Black, blue, green and yellow
1.Red and black is about 4.9V
2.Blue and black is about 4.9V
3.Green and black is about 4.9V
4.Yellow and black is about 4.9V

If you can get the data, the bldc motor controller is okay.

LCD always display “05 flashing”.
The issue comes from electric bike motor hall.(five wire: red, black, green, blue and yellow)
Could you check this five wires whether through?

This is a instruction about how to disconnect this hub motor.
It takes about 10 minutes to disconnect.

You will find a PCB around the rotor-winding. There are five wires (red, black, green, blue and yellow) are on this PCB.

I removed both panel on hub motor and did a quick test. All the thin wire looks fine. They can go through from both side. But the thick wire connect to enameled wire that I can’t test since they been wrapped up.

If Not flashing. Then it will work.
Could you get below data from electric bike motor hall sensor?

Three are three hall sensors around rotor winding.
For example:
hall 1 Green (pin 1.1 pin 1.2 pin 1.3)
hall 2 Yellow (pin 2.1 pin 2.2 pin 2.3)
hall 3 Blue (pin 3.1 pin 3.2 pin 3.3)

Pin 1.1 ,pin 2.1 and pin 3.1 are connected to the red wire together.
Pin 2.1 ,pin 2.2 and pin 2.3 are connected to the black wire together.
Pin 1.3 is green,pin 2.3 is yellow,pin 3.3 is blue.

Volt meter Red Pin to Pin x.1 black Pin to x.2 (x=1,2,3)You will get below data:
Pin 1.1 and pin 1.2 is about 1.185 (see picture 5)
Pin 2.1 and pin 2.2 is about 1.185
Pin 3.1 and pin 3.2 is about 1.185

Volt meter Red Pin to Pin x.1 black Pin to x.3 (x=1,2,3)You will get below data:
Pin 1.1 and pin 1.3 is about 1.498 (see picture 4)
Pin 2.1 and pin 2.3 is about 1.498
Pin 3.1 and pin 3.3 is about 1.498

Volt meter Red Pin to Pin x.2 black Pin to x.3 (x=1,2,3)You will get below data:
Pin 1.2 and pin 1.3 is about .633 (see picture 6)
Pin 2.2 and pin 2.3 is about .633
Pin 3.2 and pin 3.3 is about .633

Another way to test hall sensor:
Connect all wires, power on.

Measure red, black, green, blue and yellow BLDC motor hall wires
1.Red and black is about 4.9V
2.Black and yellow is about 4.9 or 0V (Please use your hand to turn hub motor, the data will change from 4.9-0V)
3.Black and blue is about 4.9 or 0V (Please use your hand to turn hub motor, the data will change from 4.9-0V)
4.Black and green is about 0V or 4.9V (Please use your hand to turn hub motor, the data will change from 0V-4.9V)

If nothing is changed, this hall was broken.
How about the other black and red wire?
Only black or red wire can’t touch well or not go through, 05 will be always flashing.
