What’s the difference between 36V 500W,36V 750W and 48V 1000W hub motors

Q:What’s the difference between 36V 500W,36V 750W and 48V 1000W hub motors

A:36V 500W,36V 750W and 48V 1000W hub motors are all used for electric bikes, also called electric bike motors. They have the same figuration. These three motors are all made of the same hub, covers,
axis, bearings, hall sensor. So they look the same, but they have different magnet and rotor-winding.

36V 750W and 48V 1000W are the same hub motors, just work at different voltage, has different watts.

But for 36V 500W × 36V 750W(48V 1000W)
The difference between them is that gauge of the coil wires, turns number of the coils and height of magnet.

The height of 36V 500W hub motor’s magenet is 24mm,but 750W hub motor reach 30mm.Picture enclosed.

In market,36V 500W is easy to find it,but difficult to find real 36V 750W hub motors.

In China,36V 500W(48V 600W) motors are very popular and used for electric bikes, these motors seem to ours, but No.The height of our magnet is 6mm more than as usual, reach 750w or 1000w.North America like them, more like high speed motors,we can customize motor speed as customers’ actual need.

Now 26″ 36V 750W bike wheel reaches 20m/h and the speed of 48V 1000W is 27m/h.It’s standard speed.

1500W Leaf Motor with 20″ x 4″ wide “Fat Bike” wheel

Q:Do you sale 1500w or higher hub motor laced into wheel that is 20” diameter by 4” wide for fat tire bike? If so, what are the dropout width options for axle? Can axle dropout width be 150mm wide or even wider? I have a bike frame with 170mm dropout width. I can use torque arms and spacers to fill some of this space, but not too much.

If available please quote price for:
~1500w newest model hub motor with 20” diameter x 4” width wheel (pre-laced service)
~Need motor/wheel laced with 1 cross pattern. Radial lacing is acceptable but not preferred. Black spokes preferred.
~Need 150mm or wider axle dropout width.
~Need turn count which contains HIGHEST AMOUNT COOPER FILL
~Need temp sensor pre-installed in bike motor
~Need single speed freewheel (11 or 12 tooth preferred) pre-installed
~Need SHIPPING to U.S

Also, can you sale with 750W sticker or engrave on bike motor?

A: We can make this 20 * 4 wide Fat Bike wheel.
Please click below site. This is our 20 inch 48V 1000w Fat bike wheel – It’s 20 inch bike conversion kit for fat snow bike.

We also can make 1500w bike motor.
* 1500w with 20 * 4 — Okay. (If your tire is 20 * 4 “, 20 * 3” rim is much better fit for 20 *4” tire. Also,we have 20 *4” rim)
* Please click above site. Wheel looks the same this one.
* At least the dropout 170mm or more
* With temp
* Can use single speed. But min 16 tooth can be installed on this motor. (Can’t use 11 or 12 tooth, only no motor hub use this 11,12)
* Ship to USA is okay.

Q: The tire is “Stingray tire” type. 20″ * 4 1/4″. If you think 3″ wide wheel will fit better ok. 16t freewheel is ok. Rather 1500w if motor will handle more power. Which turn count do you recommend for speed 35mph?

A: We recommend leaf 13 * 5T winding rotor.

1500w rear hub motor with bike rim

Q: I’m looking for a powerful direct drive rear hub motor for a 26″ MTB.
I’ve been looking at this motor:
1.Is this the best 26″ rear hub motor you have or do you recommend any other bike motor?
2.Can this hub motor be delivered with a temp sensor installed?
3.What type of gear cassette will it be able to fit with a 135mm dropout? (How many gears)
4.Can this bike motor run higher than 48 Volts? 52 Volt maybe? Or 72 Volt?

A: 1. We have 26 inch 48V 1500W rear hub motor. We recommend this one
2. With temp
3. Max 7 speed and fit for 135mm dropout. Default for screw on sprocket.(If you need to install cassette sprocket, should leave message when you order.
4. We recommend work at 48V battery.(Max 60V)

Q:Can this same rear hub motor also be delivered with a 27.5″ x 50mm tubeless rim?
I will install a 7-speed cassette sprocket, so very good that it supports this.

A: 27.5” and 26 inch are different rim.
If 27.5” rim is smaller than 700c and larger than 26 inch rim?
* If you need to install your 7-speed cassette sprocket. Please Note when you order.

Q: I want to use the newest 1500w hub motor in this bike:
If you press the green + (View all components) on the page you can see that it has 27.5 INCH x 50mm, tubeless ready rims and 142x12mm (Ai offset lacing) rear drop out.

So I’m wondering if you can deliver the hub motor with a rim that’s the same dimensions as the original rim?

A: We have some sample of 27.5 inch rim in stock. Looks the same to the one on your site.
We only ship two 27.5 inch hub motor kits to USA one time two month ago.(ONLY one customer need this 27.5 inch by now)
This 27.5 rim is smaller than 700c and larger than 26 inch.

Q: This sounds good. Thank you for even taking pictures.
How wide is the 27.5″ rim you have? (How many millimeters)

replace hall sensor for 750w hub motor

The hall sensor is a transducer that varies its output voltage in response to a magnetic field. Hall sensors are used for proximity switching, positioning, speed detection, and current sensing applications. Three phase bike motor has three hall sensors inside that are used for electric bike widely.

36V 250W brushless geared motor is popular in Europe, but in North America, people like 36V 750W hub motor more. More and more people order and enjoy these two types of DC hub motors that are called classic electric bike motors. Now they have received by most of customers because of good quality.

But when ride this hub motor bike and climb hill for a long time. Sometimes over current or over head will break motor controller’s MOSFET or hall sensor.

Hall sensor is broken. The hub motor can’t work. Unless your controller can drive sensor-less motor. Buy a new motor, cost more.

Replace hall sensor, cost less. Below we first instruct one type of 750w electric bike motor .

If hall sensor is broken, power on battery, you will find battery gauge works, horn works, lights work, everything is good, except when you turn your throttle, the hub motor wheel can’t run.

Step 1:
Retest this hub motor and make sure it does be broken. Do you have voltmeter?
Still connect all wires and power on.

First measure 6-pin hall sensor plug, the voltage as below:
1.The voltage of red and black is about 4.5V;
2.The voltage of yellow and black is about 4.5V or 0V;(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 0V-4.5V)
3.The voltage of green and black is about 4.5V or 0V;(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 0V-4.5V)
4.The voltage of blue and black is about 0V or 4.5(use hand to turn hub motor, the voltage will change from 4.5V-0V)
If you can get above data it’s no problem with bike conversion kit system. If the voltage of Item 2 (yellow and black wires)can’t change from 0V-4.5V,Please replace this hall has a yellow wire connect.

You should prepare some tools and material:
1.Hexagon wrench (Necessary)
2.Hammer (Necessary)
3.Screwdriver
4.electric iron
5.A-B glue
6.insulated paper, insulated wire
7.scissors
8.New hall sensor

Step 2:
Take off nuts and gasket on axis and use hexagon wrench to loose 16 screws.

Step 3:
Make the electric bike motor stand and cable is bent inside. Left hand hold the hub motor and use hammer to knock the axis.

Step 4:
After some knock, the cover will take off hub.

Step 5:
Use the same way to knock the other axis, the other cover will also take off hub.

Step 6:
When both side covers are off hub, next we should take out the rotor-winding. Make the axis stands on the ground, both hands press hub motor, the rotor-winding will out of hub.

Step 7:
There are three hall sensor in three grooves around the rotor.
Use scissors to remove insulated wire and insulated paper. You will find 9-pin(three hall sensor)connect to PCB on rotor-winding. Each hall has three pin: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:signal
For example:
Hall A: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Yellow wire
Hall B: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Blue wire
Hall C: 1:+ , 2:- ; 3:Green wire

Step 8:
Just now had known yellow wire hall sensor was broken. Please use electric iron to remove Hall A and use A-B glue to fix new hall sensor. Use insulated paper, insulated wire to fix PCB. Then re-build this hub motor.

Step 9:
Test as step 1.If can get the data from each hall sensor. Congratulate.

Power on battery, the hub motor wheel works.

Look for an Electric motorcycle motor kit

I just bought a gas moped (49cc) and plan to convert it to electric with your electric motorcycle kit. It looks like I’ll need at least 1500W rear hub motor, although I’m willing to go higher if needed (2000W?). Someone on a forum indicated that you do custom windings and I should reach out to you, but I’m not an engineer and can only describe how I’ll use the moped – I can’t offer what specs are best, or if this is within what you can offer.

I would prefer a solid wheel (no spokes) but on your site those only go to 1000W?

The original moped rear wheel is 17″ with a M62 3-17 tire. I haven’t removed the tire to get the exact fork distance, but I think it is around 175mm

I don’t need a high top speed, 20 mph maximum and mostly I will be in the 0-10 mph range. However, it will be constantly going up and down hills, including several hundred feet of about 15 degree incline. So, I need good low-speed torque.

I weigh about 200 lbs, and the moped (and the tools I’ll be carrying) adds another 100-150 lbs.

This will never be used on public roadways, only on my farm. I live in the USA.

I haven’t started looking at controllers or batteries yet.  My first step is to identify the best hub motor option, then I can worry about the rest.

I’d prefer a 17 inch casted electric motorcycle hub motor if I can get one with enough power / torque at low speed.

need bike motor controller replacement

I would like  to know if you sell  the bike motor controller only, because i damage mine by over voltage  and i need to replace it.
Motor and LCD are still good. So please, i just need motor controller at the moment.

The photo I’m sending from a copy of a invoice is just to give you full details of address info, the invoice is from other kit , not this.

Can you make better price selling without LCD display ?

I will buy more parts in future from you for sure. I have new projects in my mind.

I already sent i e-mail today asking for the same model but with 60v (if this option is possible), if not possible no problem ,i will need  to have another 48v  controller, and  change to a 48v battery again..

Im sorry, I said in last e-mail i had 8 x 12v lead battery, but my mistake, because  in fact they are 10 bat, 12 amps +or- ,and 12 volts each. ( 2 box with 5 batt. each )

A lot of weight to carry, but i made already about 350 miles so far without any major problem…not bad homemade electric scooter…spend some money but i love this installation process, its a fine hobby for me. I ride it most of the time inside private property to avoid problems. I don’t go fast, but uphill the controller burn…stupid mistake of mine..i push the controller limits.. many amps and some extra volts burn controller, almost in the end of the project..

I’m your costumer for some time and i prefer your controllers because they  are good and have regen break, very useful for me because i live in high place in Portugal, full of up and downhills.  I also prefer the original parts from you because i know they will fit perfect on the Lcd display that i already have

If yes , how can i pay you  excepting credit card ?
I can make bank transfer if you like, or another safe method for both.  If i buy only controller i will pay less tax here also, less money in invoice is better for me because last time i payd a lot, also because motors are heavy , but only controller will be good, its lightweight for the post tax. If possible,  don’t mention watt power in invoice please, The hub motor has 1000/1500 watt power.. i cant remember exactly, because sometimes display already  showed 1200, 1300 watt instant motor power  . maybe 1500w motor…not sure..

Bike Motor and Battery Wheel Hub

As I called about,  was wondering about the electric front bicycle wheels you had. Can one buy either a bike motor or would buying an entire front wheel with a motor already included ?
If I got a bike motor for the front wheel of a mountain bike, say as an example,  Model:HBL-16,  exalt how would this be inserted into the existing spokes of the center of the wheel ?
Whether the entire motorized front wheel can be bought or just the front wheel hub motor, how do the controls with a front wheel differ from a back wheel motor ?
How water proof are these motor hubs ?  How long does a motor of 36V/48V and 750W/1000W  they take to fully charge and how long would the charge last ?

The options of Shipping seem fine, though I am not a whole-seller, so I assume I can buy just one or two items at a time. I also do not use paypal, what other methods of payment may I use ?

Your E-bike company may just be what I’ve been looking for a while now, though I have a least another set of questions before I attempt to make a purchase to ship over.
I’m still having some troubles determining on your website exactly the difference between which motor hubs are for the front vs the back wheels.
I only want to get the front wheel set up at the moment, though ultimately the back wheel motor I’m guessing should have a little more power than the front wheel,
or should it be eventually an equally balanced between the front and the back wheel ?  (maybe I should go for a 24 to 36 volt in the front and a 36 to 48 reserved for the back.

You’re right when you point out that I should have the necessary kit accessories set-up to go with the front bike motor, such as a battery which I hope to mount somewhere
in-between the bike’s triangle bars, which I will also need a mount bracket for the battery I assume., along with a speed controller and If my existing gears won’t do the trick,
then maybe special gear shifts added to the package. I don’t know if I want get the entire front and back conversion kit at this time, unless it  would be a bit cheaper and easier
to buy the front and the back as a whole set with the accessories, as I can always leave the back wheel mechanism in my closet for a time and just install the front motor.

You say most of your motor hubs are fairly rain proof but not exactly mud puddle proof ?  Same I guess would go for the Battery cases.

I will check things over again on your site along with the shipping arrangements, but I may still have to call you to confirm my slight back vs front wheel confusion.

I may still buy both the front and back wheel hubs, along with whatever else is needed. As long as they could be put together separately, though that may require two separate
batteries or is one battery good enough for both wheels ?  However, I was wondering just as a kick-start, you wouldn’t happen to have a front wheel-Hub with the battery included
within the wheel motor case itself as part of a front wheel ?   (This isn’t what a Motor:brushless hub is, about is it, a battery contained within the wheel motor hub itself ?

I have a 16 hub motor with leaf bike on the rim

I need to know what voltage is used by the 16 inch hub motor. When it was running on a trike that I no longer have, I think it was a 24v hub motor
Can you confirm that it is a 24v hub motor or is there someway to determine what the voltage and wattage is?
If so, would you be able to sell me the appropriate controller for that hub motor?
MY SECOND MESSAGE slightly expanded:

I need to know what voltage is used by my 16″ hub motor.

Is there someway to determine what the voltage and wattage is? Also, is
that hub motor brushless and gearless?

Given that it is a Leafbike.com/Leafmotor.com hub motor, would you be
able to sell me the appropriate controller for that hub motor?

On your
16 inch 48V / 52V 1000W front scooter motor kit Item ID #LBCK16481000FNL page you show a controller for the 16 inch hub motor. What would be the
cost of the controller – the controller only? I do not want or need the
other parts.

Please tell me how to pay using VISA or PayPal. Kindly send me an invoice for 24V 250W electric bike motor controller, and I will pay with a VISA debit card.

I thought that I ordered a 24v controller for $112.00 which included a faster delivery, BUT when I tried to find the order on “My Account” I could not find it. Your “Live Chat” link would not work. If it had, I would have used it. Please advise regarding my order for the 24v controller.

Will you kindly tell me what color wires are wired to the thumb drive?
I am using a 24v front hub motor

I am so pleased you answered so promptly. However, I am having trouble understanding your description. Would it be possible to send my a drawing or diagram showing all the wires from the controller and where they are going?

All I need is the color of the wires going to the 16″ front hub motor, the battery, and most important, to the thumb throttle.
I am attaching and embedding modified photo from your website. I you could simply label the wire colors and return to me?

help me purchase 250w electric bike kit

Q:
I want to purchase 1 set of 250w electric bike kit,but found there are two type 250w hub motors showed on leafmotor’s internet shop.
One motor is 250w gearless hub motor, the other is 250w geared hub motor.
Help…What’s the difference between them?Which e-bike kit should I order?

Answer 1:
Order 250w geared hub motor,it’s more popular these days.

Answer 2:
250w gearless and geared hub motors are the same brushless motors. They are both made up of rotor winding, halls sensor, magnet, hub…
The difference between them is with gears / without gears.
250W geared hub motor is a little more powerful than gearless hub motor, but there is some noise from gears.

Answer 3:

electric bike battery can’t be charged

Question:Ordered 1 set of electric bike battery one year ago, last night charged it for the whole night, rode it this morning, but the hub motor stopped less than 1 mile.

I found the green led on my charger always be on while charging,it can’t turn to red.

Answer:There are two leds on charger. One is green led,the other is red.
When red led be on that means it’s charging. It’s okay.
When green led be on,there are three status:
1.Full charged;
2.Charger doesn’t connected to battery;
3.Can’t charge li battery

Everyone know the first and second status. But the third status isn’t easy to identify.Above question belong to the third status.

Now we talk about LiMn2O4 battery.
1.24V limn2o4 battery:
Fulled charged:29.4V;Dis-charged:22V
Should charge battery before it drops 22V.
If voltage is less than 22V,the charger can’t charge battery because of over discharged.
2.36V limn2o4 battery:
Fulled charged,42V; Dis-charged:34V
Should charge battery before it drops 34V.
If voltage is less than 34V,the charger can’t charge battery because of over discharged.
3.48V limn2o4 battery:
Fulled charged,54.6V; Dis-charged:46V
Should charge battery before it drops 46V.
If voltage is less than 46V,the charger can’t charge battery because of over discharged.

Why li battery will be over discharged?
1.24V motor controller can work at 21V±1V;the under voltage of 36V controller is 31.5V±1V and the under voltage of 48V controller is 42V.
2.Li battery has BMS.If the voltage of 24V,36V,48V li batteries less than 22V,34V,46V.BMS will stop charging and protect cells.

We suggest charge your electric bike battery per 20 miles.
Now our motor controller works with LCD,this lcd can display battery voltage directly so that you know when you should charge battery.
