measure electric bike hub motor hall sensors

Bike motor controller is fine, they all got 4.9~5.0 from meter reading. We will open and check the hub motor after work. We are more worried about if the electric bike motor itself is damaged.

Could you get the below data:
1. Remove this white biggest plug, power on and measure volt of white biggest from brushless motor controller.
Red, Black, blue, green and yellow
1.Red and black is about 4.9V
2.Blue and black is about 4.9V
3.Green and black is about 4.9V
4.Yellow and black is about 4.9V

If you can get the data, the bldc motor controller is okay.

LCD always display “05 flashing”.
The issue comes from electric bike motor hall.(five wire: red, black, green, blue and yellow)
Could you check this five wires whether through?

This is a instruction about how to disconnect this hub motor.
It takes about 10 minutes to disconnect.

You will find a PCB around the rotor-winding. There are five wires (red, black, green, blue and yellow) are on this PCB.

I removed both panel on hub motor and did a quick test. All the thin wire looks fine. They can go through from both side. But the thick wire connect to enameled wire that I can’t test since they been wrapped up.

If Not flashing. Then it will work.
Could you get below data from electric bike motor hall sensor?

Three are three hall sensors around rotor winding.
For example:
hall 1 Green (pin 1.1 pin 1.2 pin 1.3)
hall 2 Yellow (pin 2.1 pin 2.2 pin 2.3)
hall 3 Blue (pin 3.1 pin 3.2 pin 3.3)

Pin 1.1 ,pin 2.1 and pin 3.1 are connected to the red wire together.
Pin 2.1 ,pin 2.2 and pin 2.3 are connected to the black wire together.
Pin 1.3 is green,pin 2.3 is yellow,pin 3.3 is blue.

Volt meter Red Pin to Pin x.1 black Pin to x.2 (x=1,2,3)You will get below data:
Pin 1.1 and pin 1.2 is about 1.185 (see picture 5)
Pin 2.1 and pin 2.2 is about 1.185
Pin 3.1 and pin 3.2 is about 1.185

Volt meter Red Pin to Pin x.1 black Pin to x.3 (x=1,2,3)You will get below data:
Pin 1.1 and pin 1.3 is about 1.498 (see picture 4)
Pin 2.1 and pin 2.3 is about 1.498
Pin 3.1 and pin 3.3 is about 1.498

Volt meter Red Pin to Pin x.2 black Pin to x.3 (x=1,2,3)You will get below data:
Pin 1.2 and pin 1.3 is about .633 (see picture 6)
Pin 2.2 and pin 2.3 is about .633
Pin 3.2 and pin 3.3 is about .633

Another way to test hall sensor:
Connect all wires, power on.

Measure red, black, green, blue and yellow BLDC motor hall wires
1.Red and black is about 4.9V
2.Black and yellow is about 4.9 or 0V (Please use your hand to turn hub motor, the data will change from 4.9-0V)
3.Black and blue is about 4.9 or 0V (Please use your hand to turn hub motor, the data will change from 4.9-0V)
4.Black and green is about 0V or 4.9V (Please use your hand to turn hub motor, the data will change from 0V-4.9V)

If nothing is changed, this hall was broken.
How about the other black and red wire?
Only black or red wire can’t touch well or not go through, 05 will be always flashing.

How to use three button switch?
1.We cut off that blue wire. It’s for reverse. If reconnect this blue wire.
This yellow button be left / middle,29 inch bike motor kit works forward. Be right side, hub motor works bacwkard / reverse…

2.Green button is used to control cruise, while electric bike motor is running, also over some speed, example: over 1/3 max speed,at this time, press green button one time, then loose throttle,LCD display “C”,motor will works the same speed. Re-press this green button one time or press brake lever or turn throttle to max, electric bike motor will stop.

3.Red button be up,regen on. Be down, regen off. This regen is not strong.Only while braking with a little regen.

How to replace winding rotor of hub motor ?

If your hub motor has issue..How to replace winding rotor?
It takes about 10 minutes to replace. Very easy.

2. Check and make sure no other thing around magnet – It takes 10 seconds to check it.
3. Put the whole of winding rotor into hub – It takes 2 seconds to do it.
4. Put the other 8 pcs of screw nut on – It takes about 2 minutes to do it.

1500watt ebike hub motor question

I am searching for electric hub motors that I might be able to use for my device, far different than a bike.
Your 1500 watt hub motor caught my eye, and I am wondering what the outside hub diameter is?If this might work for me, I’d modify it to work for my situation, so the measurement I am looking for is the outside of the drive hub itself (the hub holding the magnets, magnets located on the inside of the hub) I’d eliminate the shield stuff on each side, to help us get the heat shed better.

Do you manufacture these hub motors, or are they purchased? Are they made in the US?

Our equipment is currently powered with 3-Phase AC motors, but I can get more power for less weight with dc motors. Unfortunately, my target rpm is around 140, probably using near 1000 watts at that speed.BUT,if these motors could come close, I’d want to explore what we might do with them.A perfect diameter for us would be less than 6 inch, but this likely isn’t the case. So, getting one or two in hand will let me contemplate things.

I was able to see the charted details for the motor! I note it is max efficiency at 550 rpm, which is too fast for my equipment.I wish to find a direct drive hub motor with decent efficiency at 120 to 200 rpm.As pointed out, my equipment is for a good purpose, and we have potential for 20,000 units per year, and more, reaching that in 2 to 4 years.

Would they consider making a bike motor running at slow speed (adding more poles)? Or is it possible with a step style bike motor? Because these run 24-7, and are built to run for years at a time. I am seeking to have reasonable life expectancy of the motors to be around 8 to 12 years. This is why I am seeking to have direct drive. This bike motor gets installed in a water-tight container, and operates underwater. Cooling will be provided by direct contact to the underwater container. It is very allowable to have a longer length, but if they can hold the 150 mm diameter as a maximum, the length could be almost 310 mm if this would help. I can go up to a weight of 50 kg, if the controller doesn’t weigh very much.

Thank you for following up on this.I would really like to find a bike motor supplier for us so we can go to a direct drive unit and avoid the use of a gearbox.

electric bike motor rear vs front wheel confusion

Your E-bike company may just be what I’ve been looking for a while now, though I have a least another set of questions before I attempt to make a purchase to ship over.
I’m still having some troubles deciding on your website exactly the difference between which hub motors are for the front vs the back wheels.
I only want to get the front bike motor wheel set up at the moment, though ultimately the rear hub motor . I’m guessing should have a little more power than the front wheel,
or should it be eventually an equally balanced between the front and the back wheel ? (maybe I should go for a 24 to 36 volt in the front and a 36 to 48 reserved for the back.

You’re right when you point out that I should have the necessary kit set-up to go with the front hub motor, such as a battery which I hope to mount somewhere
in between the bike’s triangle bars, which I will also need a mount bracket for the battery I assume., along with a speed controller and If my existing gears won’t do the trick,
then maybe special gear shifts added to the package. I don’t know if I want get the entire front and back conversion kit at this time, unless it would be a bit cheaper and easier
to buy the front and the back as a whole set with the parts, as I can always leave the back wheel mechanism in my closet for a time and just install the front hub motor.

You say most of your hub motors are fairly rain proof but not exactly mud puddle proof ? Same I guess would go for the Battery cases.

I will check things over again on your site along with the shipping arrangements, but I may still have to call you to confirm my slight back vs front wheel confusion.

controller for my 16 inch bike motor

I need to know what voltage is used by the bike motor. When it was running on a trike that I no longer have, I think it was a 24v bike motor.

Can you confirm that it is a 24v bike motor or is there someway to determine what the voltage and wattage is?

If so, would you be able to sell me the appropriate controller for that hub motor?

MY SECOND MESSAGE slightly expanded:
I need to know what voltage is used by my 16 inch bike motor.
Is there someway to determine what the voltage and wattage is? Also, is that motor brushless and gearless?
Given that it is a Leafbike.com/Leafmotor.com hub motor, would you be able to sell me the appropriate controller for that bike motor?

On your
https://www.leafbike.com/products/diy-bike-conversion-kit/16-inch-48v-52v-1000w-electric-bike-kit-front-hub-motor-wheel-1162.html
page you show a controller for the 16 inch bike motor. What would be the cost of the controller – the controller only? I do not want or need the
other parts.

looking an electric bike controller for 48V 1000W hub motor

I am using a brushless and gearless DC hub motor that is 48V 1000W. I am looking for a suitable bike motor controller for my project.

I want to implement regen braking, cruise, reverse, setting a speed limit etc.
Will this 48V 500W controller works for this 1000W motor?

I am quite hesitant to choose the 48V 1000W brushless motor controller displayed in the web here as I am afraid that the high power may drain too much power from the battery.

I am using a 48V 10Ah battery. It should be sufficient to power the 1000W BLDC hub motor but to power both the motor and controller, it may overstrain the battery.

Can you confirm that your brushless motor controller can set max speed limit, regen brake, reverse and cruise control?
Basically, I just need to buy the three button switch and every of the button can be used to perform on/off operation such as horn, lights, cruise, regen brake etc right?
What is the default max speed limit in the brushless motor controller? Do you change and set the max speed from the LCD display, controller or both? After I set the max speed and I do not want the max speed to be change, is it possible?
The hub motor can still work with the brushless motor controller, even with or without the LCD screen right?

Do you have a similar brushless and gearless hub motor like the one that is:

1) 14″ inch – 16″ inch (including solid rubber tyre)
2) Power is at least 750 W to 1000W max
3) Can implement regen brake, cruise, reverse, set max speed limit

If you have, can I have some details for these hub motors? I need them work with LCD brushless motor controller.

How-to-build-a-hub-electric-bike-motor

These days hub electric bike motor wheels are used for e-bikes widely. Nearly all of hub bike motor are brushless gearless. Because of low noise, high efficiency, long life are popular with riders.
Order 1 set 12″ 14″ 16″ 18″ 20″ 24″ 26″ 700c 27.5″ 650b 27″ 28″ and 29 inch hub motor kit, convert your common bike to e-bike is so easy. Directly front or rear drive your bike.
The important part is an engine -hub motor. How to build this electric bike motor?

Step 1: winding
Calculate motor power, speed RPM and confirm what type of copper wire would you use. Next is fix a rotor on the steel shelf, wind copper wires by handwork or machine. It takes about 1 hour to done it by handwork. And should use rubberized fabric to wrap your fingers. Nipping copper wires will break your fingers. If you need steel parts for your building process, then make sure you use the.

Step 2:soak paint
After winding should soak paint in order to be insulated. Use brush to put the insulated paint on the winding and make sure be soaked everywhere. It takes about 24 hours.

Step 3:press axis into rotor
Put axis into rotor winding and use a key to fix axis. Use A-B glue to paste three hall sensors on hub motor rotor, put 9-pin (three pin/each hall) into PCB and use insulated wire to fix it. Put 8-pin cable inside the axis and heavy yellow, blue, green wires to connect the three copper wires(Phase A,B,C) separately. Thin red, black wires are be weld to PCB + and – .

Step 4:paste magnet
Paste magnet inside hub, one N pole, next S pole ..one by one. More magnet, higher torque, more power. The height of our magnet is 30mm,6mm higher than other hub motor. In market,24mm high magnet only build max 500w electric bike motor. So our bike motor works at 36V can reach 750w.

Step 5:install rotor winding
Put the rotor winding inside the magnet hub, be careful hand. It has powerful magnetism.

Step 6:install two covers
Before installing both covers, we should press bearing into cover. Use hexagon wrench to tight screw nuts. When you hear “poop” from electric bike motor. That means install correctly. Done it.

Power on battery and use bike motor controller to drive this hub motor. If no any strange noise. It’s okay. You also need to make sure you have a controller that fits with the model you are working with, or else the whole thing might just fall apart.
